1940s Glamour

I got this dress from Plato's Closet, and I knew when I saw it I had to get it because it instantly reminded me of something from the 40s. Lately I've noticed myself becoming in love with the decade and seeing as though I had this dress, I couldn't help but play around with some glamour. Aside from my dress, I'm wearing a spoon bracelet my aunt gave me for Christmas, which I couldn't love more; and my earrings are from Forever 21. Also, the vintage items like my brush, perfume bottle, and magazine are all items I've collected from antique stores and flea markets :)

I am finally back on this blog again! And it has been so long since I’ve last written. But now that I’m on break for the summer I’m hoping to update regularly.  Since my last post though I’ve had a while to think about things and I’ve realized that this blog doesn’t have to be solely vintage. I’ve noticed that my love for the sixties has sort of dwindled in the past year or so, and that's ok. My love for vintage things is like a kaleidoscope and that I go in and out of obsessing over. I feel that the word vintage always has a way of finding its way back to me and ends up inspiring me in some way, shape, or form. Although I've now come to terms with the music and fashions of today, there is no doubt the sixties will always hold a special place in my heart.

Recently, however, I have found a new love for the fashions and styles of the 40s, and I will be expressing that love to you in my next post! The picture above is just a few of the odds I've collected recently that reminded me of this era!

Also, here are just a few lovely things in my life lately:
1. Cover Girl
One of my goals this summer has been to watch more classic movies! Now that I've been more into the fourties I figured there would be no better way to start than watching Cover Girl, one of Rita Hayworth's most famous movies! When I look at her I honestly don't know how such a flawless person existed.
 2. Jelly Shoes
Got some new jelly shoes the other day and I am so excited to wear them out!
3. Beyonce Pencils
One word...WANT.
4. Elastic Heart-Sia
This song is SO GOOD. After seeing the music video, I feel it gives off such a powerful vibe. I guess that's why I always think I'm a dancer when I listen to it!
5. Crepes
I found another new love recently, and that is for crepes! Recently I went to this lovely little French cafe with my aunt and got this delicious crepe. Definitely going to try these out more often!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving! Here are just a few snippets of my vintage style Thanksgiving outfit. Unfortunately it was far too cold to actually wear this outfit on the day of Thanksgiving, since it snowed the day before! I guess I was pretty lucky to take these pictures before and capture a few last remnants of fall before the season was officially over.

I had actually gotten most of this outfit a while ago, but I put a little something together just for the sake of this blog, and vintage fashion. I of course was going for a 70s look, and decided to wear one of my grooviest miniskirts, (which was a perfect color for fall btw), and paired it with a brown turtleneck, knee socks, and one of my favorite pair of Mary Janes! Almost all my outfit was vintage except my turtleneck and knee socks.

Tag Sale Haul: 80s Kids Clothing

Hello everyone! I think I'm actually starting to update my blog on a regular basis now...yay! Anyways, this past Friday I went to a tag sale after school, and I must say, I found some pretty dang cute stuff there! And I got into a new area of vintage that I hadn't gotten into before...vintage kids clothing! I know it sounds crazy to say I'm already shopping for kids clothing, but when it's cheap, vintage, and right in front of me, there's no way I could resist!

As you might be able to tell, I went a little crazy on the clothing. But I got everything for only $11! I think that's a pretty good deal if you ask me. Once I spotted some of clothing in bins, and was told it was from the 80s, I couldn't resist piling through it all. And lets just say, now I don't think I have to buy any clothing for when I have kids...
The girls clothing I got was one I was most excited about. I absolutely adored the floral print on the white sweater, and the precious brown leather Mary Janes! I thought both looked very natural, and very 70s style. The pajama top was another item too cute to pass up! I just love the colorfulness of it.

Although these patterns can usually be found in any decade, I knew these kinds of shirts were pretty popular in the 80s, and with how cheap they were I couldn't resist getting them! I also really liked the 80s style of the boots too.

This little outfit melted my heart! This could either be 70s or 80s style, but when I put it together I thought it was the most precious thing! The little overalls are adorable and the little baby blue turtleneck is too cute! It is my favorite color and pairs perfectly with this outfit! It could also be worn for a boy or a girl.

Here are some pretty 80s dresses I got. Again, too cute to resist!! I just adore the colors and the pattern of the red one!

And here is my record of the day...Blondie!! I wanted to go with an 80s theme today. Also, I filmed a video of my haul as well, so I'll probably be putting that on YouTube within the next couple days. Anyways, I was so lucky to find these cute pieces, and I am so glad I bought them! Even though I might not have much use for them now, I hope that in the future I will, and that I will think back to the time I bought them! :)

Update on my life + summer snaps

Hello everyone! I am back! And quite a bit has changed since I've last written. I've gotten my license, graduated high school, and have even adapted a bit of modern style believe it or not! Since graduating high school I think I've had a lot of time to reflect on different things, and I think my love for vintage things was a great part of that.

Not that I love vintage stuff any less, but I think I've adapted my taste further and am no longer scared to branch out of what I would normally listen to or wear.
I think leaving high school sort of gives you that freedom of being able to do what you want to do, without being judged for it. But it also makes you question who you really are.

So am I really still a vintage person? Absolutely! But I've also realized that I have a bit of modern in me too. And I think that's a good thing.
I've realized that there really are some truly great things about my generation that no other will have. I've realized the music really isn't all that bad, the fashions are actually pretty cute, and the right movies can be classic just as ones of the 60s were!

I will probably take time to reflect on these thoughts in a later post, but for now I just wanted to give you a quick update and a couple of fun snaps I took from over the summer.  Also, just wanted you to know that no matter how modern I've gotten, my blog will still be purely vintage!

Me in a nutshell

It is sad but the flea market season has come to an end, I've had a good couple months with the people I've met there, and came to call friends. Every week, whether I buy 10 things or none, I always feel it is my duty to at least say hi to some of my favorite vendors there and stop to chat for a little while. It isn't even so much about the items they sell, but more about the people themselves. I've met some great people going there each and every week and when I come back I feel couldn't be happier! I love fangirling over Stevie Nicks and Cher with middle aged women, and having record vendors bring certain records in especially for me. It becomes a community you come to know and love, and I feel I've definitely found my place there.
It might sound silly, but it is something I love doing and being a part of! I feel I'm their most loyal costumer there. No matter how much I had going on that day, I always made time to stop by at least once!
Either way, flea markets have always been something to look forward to for me. I've found a lot of great things this season and I'm so lucky to have something so rad just a mile away from me! I can't wait for the start of the fall season, and I know August 31st will roll right around before I know it!
