Mod Bathing Suit

Bathing Suit: Ebay
Shoes: Target-Boat Shoes
Today was the first day I went swimming in my new "mod" bathing suit! I bought it on Ebay and it's from either the 60s or 70s. So yesterday I was just chilling, watching the Brady Bunch, and I thought I'd check the mail to see if any of my packages came, and sure enough, there it was! My vintage bathing suit! I was so happy I tried it on right away! It fits great and I like the style.

Recent Purchases

Here are some purchases I made recently; ones that you will be seeing me wear in the blog soon. I got 2 bathing suits, a shirt, and a Sonny and Cher poster! I bought these items on Etsy and Ebay. I also got a Sonny and Cher Show dvd but that hasn't came yet. I can't wait until it does though!

Modcloth Roadtrip

How would you like to start your summer by traveling across the country? What about wearing an outfit coordinating with the style of each city you travel to? Well, if you don't exactly have the time or money for that trip, then text MOD1 to 30364.

The online vintage-modern clothing company ModCloth will text you back telling you you've just entered a certain city, and you are wearing a particular item of clothing. Below the text they give you a website to go to, and on that page you have to find the item of clothing they are talking about. Once you click on it, a description will come up. It's almost as if you are involved in this cross-country story, which makes it fun, and definately unique! In the description, they will give you to the answer to the question they asked you. All you have to do is text back, they'll tell you if it's right or wrong, then you will move on to another state!

I thought this was such a neat idea, it was so cool. For any fan of ModCloth, you should definately do this is a fun little activity! What I love is that it gets you involved, making you scroll along the newest fashions, as well as making you learn about some of our states and their famous landmarks.
Not only is it cool for the consumer, but it's also pretty cool for the company too. I thought to myself "How neat is it that this company gets their costumers involved in this type of activity?" It made me think "They really know how to get costumers, and get business!" Fun things like this attract the costumer to a business, so I give the company a thumbs up for this!

And even though I love the company ModCloth, I must admit I only have one item from their store, which is a $15 dollar dress. I'll say that the company is fairly expensive, but I'm sure their things are made with good quality, plus it's vintage style so it's sort of specially made.

Also, the surprize you win at the end of the roadtrip is $10 off a $50 purchase; and even though I know I won't be buying anything that expensive anytime soon, I still loved playing this roadtrip game! Anyone who thinks they can use that type of coupon, start your roadtrip today!

Car Show

June 14th, 2012
Today there was a car show in the center of town. This was one of my favorite cars I saw there! It is absolutely gorgeous! Just look at that pretty shade of blue!
Beautiful baby blue!
I love that even the inside is blue!
I believe this one is a 1957 Chevy-my favorite type of old car! This is totally my dream car!
Chevy Bel Air.
Can you spot two hula dancers!? (I thought those were too cute!)

Look how shiney this one is! Just gorgeous!
Another 57' Chevy, only this one is candy apple red!
Love it!
Red dice!

Snapshot of the Chevy sign of the back of my friend's dad's old car. It's from the 40s!

Vintage Fashion

This following post will be just as my previous post was set up, except this one will be focused on vintage fashion :)

Cardigan-American Eagle; I got it a few years ago though.
Tried to do a poof in the crown of my hair like Pattie Boyd! Didn't turn out that great, but it was only my first try. I was trying to recreate this picture:
I learned to do the poof from this video:

Vintage Items

Here are some pictures of me from earlier this year. Just a little introduction to what my blog will be like and the type of things I like. This blog entry will be more about the vintage items I got this year.

This is the first time I went to a flea market. I got a bunch of great records and a Life magazine from 1960!
My absolute FAVORITE singer of the 60s is Cher! I was so exicted to get a record of hers!
Me with my new Cher record.
This was a Beatles fan envelope.
Wearing my Beatles shirt.

Got some new vintage 16 magazines! I ordered them from Ebay! They have articles in them called "Dear Sonny" and "Dear Cher." Love them!
My new vintage outfit. I received the skirt from my dad's friend and it was hers when she was my age!
I feel like a 60s girl! I'm wearing my vintage outfit, and I have my vintage magazine! Perfect!

Introduction to my blog

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog; this is my first time using blogger. I have a tumblr, but that's just for posting pictures I like. This will be more based on something.

Before I go into detail about what my blog will be like, I should probably tell you a little bit about myself. Well, my name is Amanda and currently, I am 15. I will turn 16 on July 18th. I am in LOVE with all things vintage and retro and I wish I was growing up in the 60s! My favorite decades are the 50s-70s, but my favorite is the 60s.
I stand for peace and going green, and I enjoy the little things in life. Some things I like
to do are read and watch my favorite shows and movies; I like being outdoors, making art,and enjoying the little things life has to offer!
So, this blog will mainly be about vintage fashion. I love buying new clothes and picking out my outfits for the day. I'm trying to work on making my style more vintage-like, and making my outfits more fashionable. So, if you like vintage fashion follow my blog! I'd love to share my style and get ideas from other fashionistas as well!

P.S. Vintage fashion isn't the only thing I'll post on this blog though. I'll have other things maybe having to do with crafts I've done, or places I've been. Maybe I'll even write some movie or book reviews! I'll also write some things that I think about that will hopefully inspire others.
