First Strawberries of the Season

This is my first year growing strawberries. These are the few that were early and ripe enough to pick. I must say, they were delicious and as juicy and as fresh as ever!

Experimenting With Fashion

Recently I was watching an episode of "The Partridge Family" and noticed Laurie wearing a classic 70s style-a sweater vest over a button up blouse, exposing the sleeves and collar of the blouse. Naturally I've seen this style on numerous 70s TV shows, advertisements, and even average pictures, but it never really dawned upon me to try this look on myself. Lately I've been pondering over what I could do differently with the clothes I already have, instead of simply buying new ones. I know that true fashionistas find ways to make new outfits out of the old clothes they already have. And so, that is just what I did!
This look is easy to do and can work with any blouse or sweater vest. I only have one of these types of vests, but I can experiment on other blouses I have. More colors will provide more opportunity to turn a simple shirt into a new fashion. So try it out; if you're bored with your style, put a vest over your shirt and you'll look like any 70s teen, or secretary you've seen on television!

Sunday Drive

These pictures are from a few weeks ago in May, when my dad and I went for ride out in the country. We passed by beautiful landscapes, up hills, and through farms, including a famous Connecticut company called "The Farmers Cow." Most, if not all of these pictures were taken from the car. I guess you could call this a scenic tour. Our final destination was a hamburger stand that's a summer family tradition of ours called "Harry's". I got my first hamburger of the season there, it was delicious, and a great, distinct flavor. The last picture of the ice cream cone is the one I ordered for dessert-cotton candy-my favorite!

Old Wethersfield

This, again was from about a month ago, but I took some nice pictures that I wanted to post. Me and my friend walked around Wethersfield center, had a picnic, and I visited an antique shop that I just adored. They sold a lot of sweet things for young children, which I wish I could buy. If I had kids I'd be there all the time buying clothing, toys, and books for them! Oh well, in the future I make a point to go there and buy whatever I'd like for my littles. The 3 smaller pictures are of things I got at the antique shop I went to. I got some vintage playing cards and a 1940s "sun-suit."

Northhampton, Mass.

The hip town of Northhampton, Mass.
Faces, a very cool place which has something for everyone-posters, cards, fun little toys and gadgets, clothing, sunglasses, and more! I'm also loving the nostalgic sign.
A vintage photo booth I thought was very cool!
The Artomat, the Automat of art!

Officially the coolest looking Urban Outfitters building I've seen yet!
About a month ago my aunt took me to a hip town called Northhampton. We had a nice time and walked around, looking through stores like Faces and Urban Outfitters. We also looked through an indoor shopping mall which contained a lot of specialized stores, that sold things such as kitchen ware, cosmetics, and bohemian goods. We had frozen yogurt and I got an Audrey Hepburn poster. It was a nice day to take a ride out there.

Here is a little sample of some of the photos on my Tumblr blog, which I am obsessed with! Follow me at 60s-girl.tumblr.com.

NYC Spring 2013

 Starbucks for breakfast!
View on the top of the parking garage.
100 Years of Grand Central Station.
 The beautiful architecture.

 Flags at United Nations.

A globe in front of the UN.
A photo gallery inside of United Nations. They were featuring photos of how children in other countries get to school. I liked the life-size photo of the children riding on a donkey to school on the left.
 The Katie Show studio!
 ABC Studios.
This is literally the best thing EVER. A scrumptious little waffle that tastes as if it was flown in from Belgium. Topped with chopped strawberries and lightly powdered with sugar. I think the stickiness of the waffle could've been syrup, which added an extra layer of flavor. And it was warm. It was fabulous.

Where we ate lunch. The Peanut Butter & Co., Greenwich Village. They serve nothing but peanut butter sandwiches here (or entres topped with peanut butter).
The Elvis, which was DELICIOUS! This sandwich had peanut butter and banana with honey mixed in. It was SO GOOD. It came with a side of carrots and chips. The the classic kid lunch, fit for anyone longing to relive their past, in a gormet way (sort of)!
My ticket for the Katie Show!
This April,I went to New York City and had a marvelous time! I saw a taping of the Katie Show and it was such a great experience! It was very cool to see things that were behind the scenes, some of the things they had to retape, some of the things that Katie had to say for the promos. She seemed really nice too, and was talking with the audience a bit. She was gorgeous too! This episode featured 3 supermodels who talked about anti-aging and beauty, and how to look younger. Of course, this episode was already aired, but it was different seeing it after it was taped.
Besides the Katie Show, I got a few treats like a waffilini, which was absolutely delicious, and a peanut butter and  banana sandwich from The Peanut Butter Company. I also went to United Nations for a bit to check out the photo galleries they were exhibiting. It was a beautiful day out and I had a great time!
